THE SPORT
TYPES OF COMPETITION
There are currently several types of competitions, the most important being those governed by International Archery Federation, currently called World Archery.
The most practiced competitions around the world are the 2x50m and 2x70m Rounds, Round FITA Outdoor, Indoor and Field.
We can say that the main ones are the 2x50m and 2x70m Rounds.
This type of competition is held in the open and consists of shooting 144 arrows organized into four rounds of 36 arrows, each round at a different distance.
The longest distances can be played on the first day of the competition and the shortest on the second day.
The four distances can also be played on the same day, which requires greater conditioning of the archer, both physically and mentally.
The distances that separate archers from targets are assigned
According to the archer's category as follows:
First, let's see how the categories are divided:
Division: defines the type of arc, which can be Composite or Recurve
Class: defines the athlete's gender, Male or Female
Category: defines the age range of the athlete, and can be Cadet, Youth, Adult or Master
In Brazil and in some countries, the basic categories may include some newer ones such as children, but this is not recognized by the International Archery Federation (World Archery).
